A wounded bird was the cliche they used to describe her, but instead of scare me away, that drew me to her. It was a favor to my father because her aunt and uncle whom she was visiting had asked my father if I would hang out with her because I was her age and I spoke Portuguese because her didn't speak English, and I expected it to be just that; a chore to talk to her that I would put up with just once, but I didn't expect her to be beautiful. Her father had killed himself in front of her, and her only way of coping was to lose herself in barrel racing, which was why she was here; a beautifully capable award winning Brazilian barrel racer who was so fragile so you couldn't see it. We were to hang out again, she had made sure of it, and I wondered what that meant. She was named after a flower and I hoped she would bloom here away from the ranch of her troubles.

Hibernation?
Something about going away gets me thinking, that and massages. So I was sitting at this coffee shop trying to read John Stuart Mill, and instead I began to think about going to the Angelika or the Magnolia, and I began to think about that wasted space on the square that should be a theater. Then I started thinking about random things i’ve been looking at on craigslist that people are giving away like old pianos and church pews. Then I started thinking about the road bikes I’ve been looking at buying with the unemployment money that should be coming to me in a few days (yes, I’m getting on unemployment again thanks to an act of congress, though a job looks to be in the future). Then I started to think of what else I would be doing with that money, and all the random things I had been thinking of came together. I need to set up a theater at the hangar to get people over who enjoy the same type of films I do, and have a unique creative environment. By then my thoughts were spinning out of control with all the possibilities including monthly showings, musician/poet showcases, and art exhibits. It’s a wonder I didn’t get hit by a car on my bike ride home. Thus began my search for diy home/hangar theater set-ups and also looking for old church pews and movie theater seats. I think this is the best idea I have had in since hangarfest. I even started a facebook page for it: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1323646511#!/pages/Roanoke-TX/The-Hangar-Art-Theater/124113124301820?ref=ts&__a=44&ajaxpipe=1
